Year Summary 2004
The loss of two senior players, Sean Fletcher (serious eye injury) and Eliot Laughton (jaw injury), towards the end of the previous season meant a large loss of experience in an already young team.
This season, not surprisingly maybe, started poorly with a home cup defeat to Hull RFC.
However the league season started very well with nine victories and three defeats - and this with a team whose average age was 24 years.
We managed to maintain our challenge to the league leaders, Bradford and Cleckheaton, until the beginning of March when injuries to leading players started to take their toll but overall a final position of 4th was a great achievement.
We are looking forward to the coming season with renewed optimism and with the youngsters 12 months older and, hopefully, wiser we hope to go that little bit further.
