Wath vs Sheffield (19-17 won)
Wath were under no illusions as to how difficult this game was going to be facing an impressive local side in the pouring rain. The first ten minutes were not the best for Wath with Sheffield running in 2 tries early on. The prospects didn't look good but this seemed to give the lads the push they needed and within minutes the impressive Wath pack had driven into Sheffields 22 which resulted in PJ recieveing the ball on a one on one running straight into and consequently over the top of his defender. I must mention that the Wath pack were particularly impressive today especially considering the reshuffiling that has had to take place due to usual No 8 Arran Tasker knee injury. Captain Ash Rothery moving from 10 to 8. Also the Wath backs were depleated today and 2 under 15's Kurt and Aiden were brought in on short notice and performed exceptionally well. With 5 minutes to go the Wath pack once again set up a driving mall heading for the line and Matt Foster drove over under the sticks to score his first try for Wath (extremly eserving considering all the har work he puts in.) The half time score was 12-12 with prospects of an exciting second half.
Sheffield were the first to get on the score board (however controversially) but Wath did not let there heads drop. Instead they found themselves 5 metres out from the opposition line with a tap penalty and as well as all the forwards diving PJ on fly half liam, scrum half josh n centre Sam all joined in the resulting mall ( this just showed how much the Wath lads wanted it) The result was offence after offence from the desperate Sheffield defenders with Wath eventually being awarded a penalty try. 19-17 to Wath. Determined not to lose there lead the Wath lads held of the impressive Sheffield attacks and consequently finished of the better team with great chip up the left wing by Josh to hase gather and be bundeled into touch. This saw the end of the game.
Man of the math today was the impressive Under 15 Matt Myers however eevery single member of the team should be proud of themselves for the drive and effort they showed today against extremly good opposition.
Wath vs East Retford (12-5 won)
Wath wereunfortunately playing in the pouring rain and having not expected a game today and having only half an hour to prepare for it and drag themselves out of bed the lads played very well. The whole of the East Retford team had a big size advantage over Wath but that did not deter them especially in the forwards with Wath dominating both the scrums and line outs. The game was rather scrappy today understandbly with the rain and so one pass too many was dropped by both teams. The first half was very even with neither team managing to break the oppositions defence. However into the second half Wath took the lead through centre Sam Beard who saw half a gap and sped through to score. East Retford then answered back through their massive pack and were awarded a push over try. With 15 minutes to go centre Russ had to leave the pitch due to injury (nothing serious) after putting in at least 4 or 5 huge tackles on much bigger lads. PJ then moved to inside centre received the ball in midfield and everyone knew there was no way he was going to pass the ball and so steamed through to score. Final score 12-5. A big well done today to all the lads who were excellent both in attack and defence an excellent game against strong opposition. Man of the match PJ.
Wath vs Huddersfield YMCA (76-5 won)
Wath travelled away for the first time this season to face an unknown Huddersfield side. However the home side only had 11 players and so Wath had to lend them 4 players meaning neither side had any substitues and the prospects of an exciting game were not looking good. Gareth, Mullen, Mossy and Jamie all played for the opposition in the 1st half and didn't hold back. The game began with Wath almos instantly scoring through centre Russ who saw a gap in the Huddersfield defence and took full advantage. 7-0 to Wath. Outside centre Sam Beard then did virtually the same finding a gap in the defence and jinking through 14-0. With Wath now in their own half fly half Ash R kicked downfield for Sam to chase, he did so kicked on and beat the scrambling Huddersfield winger to touch down right in the corner. Sam then very impressively converted his own try from the touchline. 21-0 to Wath. Once again Wath scored this time thanks to good hands in the back the ball eventually ending up with PJ who steamed through to score. Full back Ben then took the ball from deep ran it towards his forwards and managed to bounce of the Huddersfield winger and run in unopposed under the posts. 33-0. With Wath clearly the dominant side their lapse in concentration meant that Huddersfield were awarded a try it was questionable but th refs decision is final. Wath then had a penalty in the opposition 22 the ball was shipped to Jammer who "Bosched" his way through to score. Jammer once again on a role then delivered a pass to winger Ash H that any scrum half would be proud of leaving Ash free to show his pace and touch down in the corner. 45-5. Under 15 Matt Myers than impressed with a storming run down the Huddersfield wing the ball was recycled and eventually found PJ who once again scored in the corner. The half was ended early due the half time score.
Huddersfields prop was forced to leave the pitch with injury at the end of the second half so Wath then swapped the players round again. Liam, Matt Myers, Ash H and Jack going onto the Huddersfield side and Wath playing with one less man. The man disadvantage did not cause problems for Wath. PJ once again was on the end ofsome impressiv handling by the backs and sped through to score. Jammer then completed his hatric with a push over try that found him with the ball. PJ then also completed his hatric thanks to excellent hands from Stuart and Mullen and burst through the centre field to score. 71-5 The game finished with a good drive by Wath which resulted in Tasker going over in the corner. 76-5. A good display by Wath but more importantly not a greedy one despite weaker opposition the lads still played as a team. Man of the match Matt Myers for his excellent work for both teams. Big well done to all lads who played for the opposition and thanks to Huddersfield for their hospitality.
PJ never thought he'd be this involved in a line out. Doubt he ever will again!

Wath vs Dinnington (6-8 lost)
The team were under no illusions as to how tough this game was going to be. However Wath knew what needed to be done to overcome the larger Dinnington pack. Wath captain Ash Rothery was injured and so usual inside centre Russ started at 10. The game started well for the home side under the searing heat with a fantastic tackle from No 8. Tasker on Dinnington's 12. Wath ended up in their own 22 under pressure from the Dinnington pack but with the first of a series of excellent kick from debutant Ben at full back saw of the pressure. The larger Dinnington pack had the upper hand in the scrums but Wath thanks to jumpers John and Tasker were controlling the line outs and stealing Dinnington ball. However after a kick from Dinnington's number 10 confusion was created in the Wath team which led to a Dinnington try. Wath answered back with excellent pressure through the forwards. This resulted in a Wath penalty and with the apparent need for points Sam Beard converted 5-3. This ended the first half.
Wath once again piled on the pressure at the start of the second half and ended up with a carbon copy of a penalty which Sam Beard once again converted. 5-6 to Wath. Dinnington answered back with good pressure in the Wath 22 at this time the Dinnington full back who had played very well went of with an injury. The visiting teams forwards once again were driving for the Wath line but the ball was spilled forward by Dinnington on the line quick thinking from Ben at 15 saw Wath quickly get back into the Dinnington 22. Wath were excellent today in defence but seemed not as strong in attack. Dinnington got a good platform infront of the posts and their 10 slotted a drop goal. 8-6 to Dinnington. Wath then answered back well with good continuity through the backs but once again nothing came of it. Around the half way line PJ got the ball and gave a excellent hand off to the opposition winger. The game ended rather scrappily with Dinnington stealing ball on the floor and Wath once again spoiling lots of the Dinnington line outs. Even though Wath lost today they played extremely well against a very strong opposition and should be proud of their excellent team performance. Man of the Match Arran Tasker for his excellent line out work and tackles. A special mention must however go to Ben Thomas who is new to the club and performed excellently at full back today putting in brilliant kicks out of hand and good attacking lines and defence tackles.
Thanks to ref Neil Egan and the Dinnington squad, coaches and supporters for an excellent display of sportsmanship and a great game of rugby.

Wath vs Leeds Corinthians (31-5 win)
The Under 16's looked to continue their winning start to the tournament this week with a game against Leeds Corinthians. The visiting team arrvied with what seemed like 40 players and appeared to have the size advantage. Wath were mising some key players who were away on a school trip so had drafted in some Under 15's who played exceptionally today. However once the game began Wath got to work and within 10 minutes PJ had scored a try thanks to good hands from the pack. Wath once again found themselves in the Leeds 22 with a 5 metre scrum which saw Tasker pick up from number 8 and power over to score. Leeds then replied with good pressure from their forwards they created a gap in the Wath defence and ran through over the line to score.
The second half started rather lack luster from both sides. However after 10 minutes the Wath lads fitness started to show as the big Leeds pack grew tired. The ball was recycled well shipped to Ash at 10 who put up a high ball for centre Mullen to chase luckily catch and steam through to score. Wath it seemed now had the upper hand. A great run by PJ nearly crumpled the Leeds centre. Wath ended up with a line out in their 22 and a very well worked set piece saw Dean on the wing race over to score his first try for the club. With 5 minutes to go Mossy caught the ball from full back took it into the forwards and somehow managed to score a push over try in the corner surely his first try of that nature. This saw the end of the game Wath the winners 31-5. A big well done to the Under 15's who more than stepped up to the challenge today. Man of the Match Arran Tasker.

Wath vs Worksop (43-0 win)
Wath were once again at home this time to a team whom they had beaten last year but not all that convincingly. Worksop seemed much bigger in the pack our forwards were in for a tough contest. With the game underway centre Sam Beard started of the scoring in the first 2 minutes with a brilliant run from his own 22 jinking and weaving out of tackles to speed through under the posts. The next ten mintues was very even between both teams but Wath were the first to break the dead lock. Jamie stole the Worksop lineout the ball was shipped out quickly to the backs and found Russ who speed through in the corner to score 12-0. The most impressive piece of play set up the next try or Wath with front rows Jammer and Keenan combining to perform amazing dummy runs whether they meant to do it or not is unimportant because the ball was recycled quickly down the line for Sam Beard to finish of the move. The forwards then got their chance with a very impressive driving maul against a seemingly much bigger pack with PJ being pushed over to score 24-0.
In the second half the visiting team seemed to be tiring but their backs were working extremly hard putting in some great tackles. However Wath seemed to be the fitter side and the forwards once again set up a driving maul which led to seond row Matt Foster being pushued over between the posts to score his first try for Wath. Worskop soon replied with a good run and team work between the winger and centre however Aiden "the hitman" Barrat had it covered had made a great try saving tackle to bail Wath out. Seemingly on a roll Aiden "the hit man" Barrat then recieved the ball in Worksop's 22 ran around 2 defenders and scored in the corner. Once again the forwards then set up another driving maul but unfortunatley the ball was dropped on the line. Some ten minutes later the supporters were left dumbfounded to see "speedster" (not) Jammer burst through a gap in the Worksop defence seemingly fly through the centre not bad for a front row (side step the full back only joking) and pass to Russ who scored in the corner. Jammer it seemed was on a roll 5 minutes later with another very pacey run up the middle of the field but unfortunately this saw the end of the game. The highlight of the game was the way in which the lads played as a team today never being selfish with the ball and consequently getting a well deserved win. Well done to Worksop who never gave up at put in some crunching defence right to the end. Man of the Match PJ.

Wath vs Wheatley Hills (17-10 win)
Wath faced a side full of county players and did not underestimate the ablity of Wheatley Hills. However due to pre-match incidents several players were forced to play out of position. We played a lot of under 15's in this game as previously agreed with the opposition coach. Most surprising Birdy at 12 which he claims is his true position nobody else does though. Immediately Wath found themselves in their own 22 but amazingly Sam Beard (chariots of fire) bailed Wath out with a pacey run up the pitch which resulted in him stepping every single Hills player (almost anyway) and finishing with a try. The quarter was flying by with Hills in Wath's 22 the ball squirted out of the back of a scrum the 9 then attempeted to capitalize only to be denied by the "Hand of Bird" The quarter then finished Wath 5-0 in the lead.
The second quarter began much in the same fashion as the first with Hills piling on the pressure and managed to sneak on down the blind. The Wath forwards replied with several big drives but Hills defence remained strong until Aiden "the hitman" Barrat not to be outdone by Beardy went on a run of his own only to be caught by the Hills number 8. This saw the end of the second quarter.
At the half Wath made many changes which saw players playing in their favoured positions. The third quarter began with Birdy breaking down the blind and feeding Kurt who was unlucky to be bundeled into touch. From the resultant line out Jammer (or Jamm'in) popped up with the ball stepped both wingers and the full back only to wake up and find he was over the line to touch down. 10-5. Due to good ball continuity by the Wath backs quick hands saw PJ receive the ball from Mullen and steam through to score (in PJ fashion.) This ended the third quarter.
The fourth quarter saw many changes made again so lads could get a game. However newly inspired Arran Tasker was bigging it up on defence and smashing several Hills forwards. Hills found good penetration down the wing. Which resulted in a try the game then ended with Wath victorious. 17-10. Thanks to ref Niel Egan.
