Year Summary 2005
A season that saw Waterloo consolidate their position in division two.
It could have been so much better, but early season injuries meant that too many losses left them with too much ground to make up later in the season. The final position of fourth in the table is the result of a good season and most people were reasonably happy.
The coaches were not among that number, and will no doubt want to make a few changes to ensure that this season both starts and finishes better than last. At least the visit to this division is longer than the last one, as they were relegated after only one season. Obviously the team will be looking to leave again this season, but this time in an upward direction. To do this there must be more consistency shown throughout the season, and this will be the aim for this year. Other teams will obviously want to spoil this plan, and once again it should be an interesting season. In the cup they had another good run reaching round five before falling to the might of Bristol. Had Bristol beaten Gloucester another appearance in the Powergen shield could have been on the cards, but that turned out to be a bridge too far.
With the second team winning their league competition there will be more players challenging for first team places next season, which always produces better performances from the selected players.
Once again we look forward to revisiting last seasons clubs, and welcoming the new teams and renewing old acquaintances.
