Dubs 0 vs Old Glynonians 45 (01/03/09)
Well, it was one of those days – 14 players away against one of the new clubs in Surrey IV chasing promotion.
A few mistakes cost us in the first half, which meant that they scored a couple of early tries and also meant that the 30 minutes of pressure that we exerted and good rugby that we played during that period went unrewarded. With several walking wounded and one back row player down, Glynonians were able to continue scoring tries against us and the score at full time was 45-0.
The result notwithstanding, it was one of those days on which you are very proud to play with your mates under the Dubs badge. We battled extremely hard and were all out by the final whistle. We did play some good stuff for 30 minutes of the first half and were unlucky overall not to score a couple of tries. I could run down the list of the entire team and highlight people playing out of their skins in defence, playing on injured, playing out of position. However, there would be no point because every one of that 14 know how hard we tackled and rucked for each other.
