Mowsan doubtful for Teigns trip

TEIGNMOUTH are waiting on a late injury report from prop George Mowsan before settling on their side to visit Liskeard-Looe. Mowsan suffered a badly gashed forehead last Saturday early on in the win over Hayle. He was bandaged up at pitch side and soldiered on before going to hospital to have the gash stuck together. Definitely missing are flanker Joe Cockram, who is playing in a golf tournament in the Midlands, and full-back Matt Moses due to work commitments. Possibly sidelined is lock Arron Kelly, who has been carrying a strain since the Exeter Saracens game three weeks ago. Having lost three in the row in the Cornwall & Devon Division before beating Hayle, the Teigns hope they have turned the corner now.
Bob Farrell, director of rugby at Bitton Park, said the next few weeks are the Teigns' opportunity to start clambering the table. "We always knew we were in for a tough start because of the fixtures we had and the injuries we were collecting," said Farrell. "Over the next five-six weeks we have the chance to string a few wins together and get ourselves up the table. "I like to think we will be in a position we can attack the top clubs from by Christmas and may have done well enough to attract some new players to the club."
Teigns team up with New Cross

TEIGNMOUTH and New Cross have reached to a common-sense solution over their shared problems of fielding a second team… they have joined forces for the rest of the season. Cornwall & Devon Division side Teignmouth have been battling with injury problems at all levels for a while. Recently, they could only field 11 men in a 2nd XV Merit Table game. New Cross have been struggling for numbers and finding it hard to cobble together a side for their 2nd XV's friendly games. New Cross chairman Marc Bayley, who had a spell with Teignmouth some years ago, realised there was common ground and contacted his old club to chat it over. "What we have agreed is that when Teignmouth have a Merit Table game our lads will help them out," said New Cross secretary Clinton Mill.
"When we have a friendly and Teignmouth don't have a Merit game, their lads will come across and wear our colours. "In many ways it is a perfect solution as we loads of forwards and no backs – and Teignmouth have no forwards and too many backs. "From our point of view our players will be exposed to a better level of second team rugby than they are getting now as Teignmouth are in Merit Table Two." Bob Farrell, Teignmouth's director of rugby, said he was pleased an arrangement had been reached that both clubs can benefit from. "The important thing is that lads who want to play rugby get a game and this way they will," said Farrell. "So help mould things together, New Cross are going to come over and train with us to work on moves and drills so they don't go into their first game cold." If all works according to plan, New Cross will play Tamar Saracens this Saturday and Teignmouth 2nd XV will face Honiton the following week.
