Match Sunday 15th January v Cambridgeshire venue Shelford 12.30 meet KO 2pm
Cambridgeshire 25 Suffolk 17
Cambridgeshire started the game very confidently scoring two quick tries and converting one of these. Suffolk eventually decided to join the game and a well taken try was scored by Toby White. This try helped establish a more confident approach to Suffolk's game. Defensively Suffolk worked hard against a well drilled Cambridgeshire back row who often stole the ball at the break down. Suffolk conceded a penalty at the end of the first half, this added 3 points to the Cambridgeshire score line.
Once again Cambridgeshire came out of the blocks quicker than Suffolk in the second half and scored two quick tries. From that point forward Suffolk had to play catch up rugby. Suffolk tightened up the game but failed to convert often long periods of time in the Cambridgeshire 22 into points. Josh Flowitt scored a try for Suffolk after concerted pressure. A further final try was scored by Suffolk.
Match 20 November 2011 Norfolk 10 Suffolk 35
Suffolk fielded a more coherent side against a very strong Norfolk side. The training and time spent together really helped the Suffolk throughout the game. Both the line out and scrum became very competitive areas of the game, Alex Grey disrupting the Norfolk throw with strong line out jumps. Both hookers Joshua and Ed took the ball against the put in, allowing Suffolk to eventually dominate the set piece This provided an opportunity for a very aggressive back row to apply pressure on the Norfolk 9 /10.
It was pleasing to be able to announce Finlay as man of the match, closely followed by Leif, both wingers played really well, this was evidence of the distribution skills of the Suffolk back line running at every opportunity. In attack they looked very threatening and in defence stopped the Norfolk back line with some very strong tackling . We managed to play all the members of a large, well drilled squad - well done to all.
Match Sunday 9 October 2011 Suffolk 17 Cambridgeshire 33
Suffolk started the game the stronger with several individual efforts from players, but quickly realised that Cambridge although not as strong in some positions, played well as a team. Suffolk continued to play well but the loss of Alex Burman who had been a stand out player in the pack was a big loss to them and allowed Cambridge to take control of the game. With a player yellow carded Cambdridge scored two quick trys and Suffolk played catch up Rugby for the rest of the game.
