SUFFOLK SEVENS
The 2010 Competition was held at Bury St Edmunds RFC. Despite a late no show 8 Teams took part in two pools of four before progressing to their respective semi and finals. Congratulations to Ian Wade from Haverhill for organising a superbly run event that ran smoothly and kept to time!
Colchester emerged as Winners from the Blue Group having held off Stowmarket in a closely fought tussle. Bury meantime cruised through their group with Wattisham runners up. The Plate competition resulted in a cracking final between Southwold and the West Suffolk College. The youngsters scored a last gasp try to retain the Plate 27 - 24. In the Cup as expected the two group winners progressed to the Final with most money on Bury to secure a 4th consecutive title. However the young guns from Colchester had other ideas and immediately showed they had no intention of coming second. Bury were punished for their indiscipline as Colchester exploited their extra men and extra pace to deservedly become Champions 44 -19.
