Suffolk Schools Rugby Union (SSRU) was reformed in 2009 after the county spent many years without a schools' union. The SSRU is affiliated to the Suffolk School Sports Association (SSSA) and receives an annual grant each year from the SSSA. Every middle, secondary and independent school in Suffolk pays into the SSSA and so as such every middle, secondary and independent school in the county is a paid up member of SSRU, Eastern Counties Schools and the English Rugby Football Schools Union (ERFSU). This entitles every school to England match tickets amongst other perks.
The SSRU is the principle organisation in the development of schools' rugby and works closely with the Suffolk Competition Manager team, School Sports Partnerships, Local Authorities, Suffolk Sport and is aligned side by side with Suffolk RFU and the RFU Development team.
