Welcome to Sudbury Rugby Club Youth Section
If your child is considering playing rugby for the first time or looking to join a new club, the following outlines Sudbury Mini & Youth ambitions and the principles under which we operate.
Coaches
All our coaches are volunteers’ and all are CRB checked. All have RFU coaching qualifications and many have these at a high level. All are committed to providing the best level of coaching appropriate to the age and physical development of each player, whether they are 6 or 16, As importantly, many have played at a high level both as junior and as adult players and are able to bring the skills learned at this level into the context of mini and youth rugby to the great benefit of Sudbury players.
Equipment
As a result of our volunteers fund raising efforts, we provide a free club shirt and waterproof club jacket to every playing member. This is unique in junior rugby and underlines our one club and one team approach to all our players. We have provided plenty of specialist equipment from junior size scrum machines to tackle bags so that all our teams have their training needs fully met.
Volunteers
We are a members club and encourage all our parents to become involved . With all our junior memberships we give a free social membership to a nominated parent or guardian. We will need your help, to allow the coaches to provide the best environment, equipment, kit and organisation. So do please get involved. It’s your club as well and every thing you do directly benefits the rugby career of your child.
Rugby Philosopy
We want our young players to really enjoy their rugby, have fun, appreciate their own skills and talents and those of our opponents. At all levels, we focus our coaching on running rugby and the skills needed to execute these in a match situation. We play all players in matches as we recognise that rugby players develop their physical skills over a long period and that you will never practice and develop these on a subs bench all season.
Training
We expect all our junior players to attend training regularly as per their training schedule. This is to ensure that all the players continue to develop their skills and to ensure that when we do play matches, all players are equally fit and competent. It is unfair both to the player and their team mates to expect to play without training.
Cost
Our Mini section annual cost is £40 per season inclusive of match fees.
Our Youth sections annual cost is £60 per season inclusive of match fees.
