U'13's Staffordshire Cup Winners
Stafford won the Under 13 Staffordshire Cup Final 28 -26 win against Stoke. This is a hat trick of wins for this team, having in previous seasons won the Under 8 and 11’s County festivals. This season was different, with a tough league to negotiate which included Stoke, Burton, Tamworth, Walsall, Burntwood and Leek. Having qualified for the Semi’s, Stafford then beat the much fancied Lichfield. In yesterdays game, Stafford were slow to start but then opened up a 28-12 lead with 3 tries from winger Jordan Turner and one from centre Harry Alderson, Fly Half Joe Turner adding 4 conversions. Stoke then came back into the game and in a nail biting finish bought the score back to 28-26. The forwards gave an excellent account of themselves, the front row particularly were outstanding. The game was hosted by Walsall and former county Chaiman Elvyn Pugh accompanied by County Junior chairman Brian Gayton presented the Cup to Stafford captain Harry Alderson, Stafford man of the match was prop Sam Johnson.
