South West Peninsula Federation provides officials for the CRFU Skinners Super Cup Final
The team of 4 officials, abley led by Referee Steve Harland (Devon) and Touch Judges Darren Becconsall (Cornwall), Andy Watts (Devon) with 4th Official Tim Smaldon (Cornwall) oversee the inaugural final of the CRFU Skinners Super Cup between Mounts Bay and Launceston on a crisp Easter Monday at the Mennaye in Penzance. As has already been reported the game was won by Mounts Bay but the delicate handling of the match, allowing a flowing game to be enjoyed by players, officials and spectators alike was positively remarked upon by both sides after the game.
The Sponsorship support by Skinners Brewery of the South West Peninsula Federation (Cornwall, Devon and Plymouth Societies) officials will positively enhance the role they have in officiating in the leagues between South West 2 and down to Cornwall/Devon, providing a key nurturing ground to develop and support aspiring officials of all ages and gender, on their pathway to achieve their full potential. The SWP Federation is indebted to Steve Skinner and Skinners Brewery for their active and inspired sponsorship deal that fully recognises the key role this "31st player" has in ensuring this glorious game of rugby union goes ahead each and every week.

SMART NEW DEAL FOR SOUTH WEST REFS
Members of the South West Peninsula Federation of Rugby Referees now have a smart new set of sponsored kit thanks to a deal concluded with Truro-based Skinners Brewery.
All SWP referees will have new referees shirts plus polo and dress shirts – for use during and prior to matches and off the field. Assessors and committee members will also receive the polo and dress shirts.
The SWP Federation, covering Devon and Cornwall, has 18 members, operating up to the standard of touch judge in National Division One. Federation representatives visited Skinners Brewery for the formal handover of shirts by sales manager Andy Hawken, himself a former player with Newquay Hornets RFC, accompanied by appropriate refreshment to toast the occasion.
“We are delighted to be able to help the ‘men in the middle’ in this way,” said Andy. “The main sponsorship spotlight understandably falls on the players, but the refs are of course every bit as important. We hope this gesture will remind them of just how much they are appreciated by everyone in the game.”
This latest sponsorship strengthens Skinners’ involvement in rugby. The company already sponsors the Cornwall Junior and Senior Cups – plus the newly introduced Cornwall Super Cup for Redruth, Launceston and Mounts Bay.
