History
Rugby was introduced to Poole Grammar when the headmaster, F.H.Stephons, joined the school in 1952. By 1959 the game was so well established that an old boys' side was formed, initially as an occasional vacation team This developed during the 1961 season into a side playing regularly on Saturdays, known as the Poole Old Grammarians. During the middle Sixties the Club steadily grew, playing on the old Grammar School pitches in Seldown Road, Sopers Lane and then in 1966 at Turlin Moor, Hamworthy, after the playing fields had been reclaimed from the marshes surrounding Poole Harbour. The Club changed its name firstly to Poole Dolphins and then in 1969 to Poole Rugby Football Club.
In 1967 changing rooms and a small Club room were built by Poole Borough Council at Turlin Moor Sports Ground and the Club have been based there ever since
During the late Sixties and early Seventies the Club expanded until it was running four Senior sides and a Colts XV.
In 1990 the Club room was extended and re-furbished, marking a turning point in the Club's progress. In 1996 the club was re-furbished even further to include the mural as can be seen here.
