PLYMOUTH RUGBY REFEREES SOCIETY
The PRRS is a friendly, progressive Society providing referees and touch judges for Clubs of the Plymouth & District Combination.
Referees in the PRRS can be appointed to League fixtures up to and including the Devon & Cornwall League (Level 8), Combination cup fixtures, 2nd/3rd/4th XV fixtures and local Youth fixtures. In addition they act as officials for the end-of-season Combination 7-a-side tournament.
As well as local fixtures, PRRS referees regularly officiate on exchange to Somerset, Bristol, Gloucester and Hampshire providing excellent opportunities to progress through the levels. This progression can result in selection for the South West Group, of which Plymouth provide a constant throughput. Notable successes in recent years have included Steve Harland (who is also the RFU Referee Development Manager for the South West) and Nigel Higginson, who have been refereeing on the National Panel of Referees for some years. We are also proud to have two National Panel Touch Judges in Trevor Hunter and Grant Mossford amongst our number.
Many of PRRS' members are serving or ex-serving members of the Armed Forces who have officiated around the world, including Cyprus, Dubai, Germany and Australia amongst others.
A strong pool of experienced advisers (including some at National level) and trainers help to maintain the excellent reputation that the society has earned around the globe
