Wins for both the Under 15's and Under 18's
North Hykeham RUFC Under 15's and Under 18's opened the 2007/2008 season with a training game against combined Goole/Sleaford teams and proved far too strong for their opponents in both games.
With the opposition teams turning up a few players short in both age ranges North Hykeham sportingly loaned players for the games to go ahead.
The Under 15's recorded a 41 points to 5 win with scrum half Hannah Newsome outstanding in both defence and attack. Tries were scored by Laura Ware ( 2 ), Rachel Jones ( 3 ), Katie Smith ( 2 ), Carla Clubb converted 2 of the tries with Katie Smith also managing one conversion.
The Under 18 game followed much the same patterm with the hosts recording a 47 points to 22 victory. Tries were scored by Sarah Swann ( 1 ), Abbie Huggett ( 2 ), Laura Calvert ( 2 ), Phoebe Nicholls ( 1 ) and Mica Grossett ( 3 ). Due to the disparity in experience, North Hykeham loaned East Midllands players Mica Grossett and Charlotte Pridam to the visitors for the second half. This made the fixture more competitive and allowed the visitors to score 4 tries, 2 by Grossett, to give the final score a more respectable look.
North Hykeham are under no illusions that they will face much harder challenges during the course of the season, no more so than the visit to Worcester in three weeks time. Their performances today however provide a degree of optimism that yet another successful season awaits them.
