North Kesteven RFU Links with Lincoln Christ's Hospital School
North Kesteven Girls Section have recently signed up to a formal RFU club/school link agreement with Lincoln Christ's Hospital School.
The aim of the link is to encourgage girls to play rugby both in the school environment as well as with the club.
Club coaching staff have supported the girls year 7 and 8 tag rugby programme at the school for three years. This has seen a sizeable number of girls make the transition from the tag format in school to the contact format at club.
The link further strengthens those ties and during March and April contact sesssions will be on offer for the first time to girls in school years 7, 8 and 9 as an extra curricula activity.
It is hoped that the link will provide more girls with the opportunity to play the game and some may even follow the examples of Georgina Creaser, Lizzie Kirk , Paula Smith and Emma Orrey, who have been selected in the Under 14 and Under 17 East Midlands Regional Squads for the 2007 National Regions Programme.
Head of P.E. at the school Miss Annali Crawford says " We are very proud of these girls. They are dedicated sportswomen who have proven that with the right attitude, commitment and motivation you can achieve your goals. It is role models like these who will help younger girls opt into and stay involved in sport ".
