North Hykeham U18 Girls 56 points - Buxton U18 Girls 17 points
Four Try O'Connell Proves Too Much for Buxton
North Hykeham Under 18 girls at last returned to club action following the completion of the N.L.D. district programme entertaining Derbyshire club Buxton Bobcats.
Games between both clubs are normally high scoring and entertaining and this one proved to be no exception.
Buxton selected England Under 20 squad member Charlotte Wild as their captain and number eight. The hosts had worked hard at training to put together a game plan which involved keeping her her tied down at the breakdown and then moving the ball away quickly to the speedy North Hykeham backs.
The game plan worked almost to perfection with right winger Shonaugh Mc Connell running in four almost identical tries with centre Mica Grossett making a series of outside breaks leaving McConnell with simple one on one's against her opposing wing.
Mica Grossett also had a very good day showing her power pace and evasion skills to run in three tries.
Not to be out done captain and fly half Phoebe Nicholls also scored three tries. Grossett converted three of then 10 tries to give North Hykeham a convincing 56 points to 17 win in which all players played well, stuck to the game plan and played enjoyable running rubgy.
On the few occaisions that Wild was allowed to run at the North Hykeham team she showed her class and everyone of the Buxton tries were influenced by her.
North Hykeham are at home again next Sunday 16th December this time playing hosts to Kettering with a 2pm kick off at the Memorial Playing Fields
