Following the post-match meeting of the England 16 Group selectors, the following players have been invited to attend the North Squad weekend at Lytham on Saturday, 5th January, commencing at 11.30am.
The list of 26 (compared to the anticipated 22/23) includes three players unavailable to attend the final trial through injury, illness and absence resulting from family bereavement.

This weekend is for the North Divisional squad that will play in the Divisional Festival at Broadstreet RUFC (Coventry) next weekend, i.e. Friday 11th – Sunday 13th, with matches against the South West and London & South East Divisions.
Format: The 26 players that have been selected, by the England selectors, following the Final Trial have been invited to another intensive coaching weekend. Festival One only allows 22 players to represent the North Division so, injury permitted, four players will be working towards Festival Two.
All 26 are entitled to acquire the North embroidered kit and playing shirt, as per the letter distributed after the Final Trial, which is supplied 'at cost', less a significant subsidy. Any boy who does not play for the North in the any of the Festival fixtures at Broadstreet will be refunded the cost of the RFU tracksuit, fleece and polo shirt.
The coaches will seek to develop unit and team skills in preparation for the Divisional matches at Broadstreet and could involve some standing around so please ensure you have enough warm kit.
Venue: King Edward and Queen Mary School, Clifton Road South, Lytham
Kit & Footwear: Please ensure you bring a clean set of trainers and playing kit to train on the school's astroturf.
Start time: Arrive at KE & QM at 11:30am, Saturday 5th January 2008
NB: To try and utilise the time spent training, there will be no lunch break before we start (we’re looking to get out onto the fields by 12:00noon) so please make sure you have eaten before you arrive.
Dinner will not be until 7:00pm (plenty of bananas etc will be available through the day) so please make sure you’ve had plenty of cereals, bread etc. to cope with what will be an intensive schedule.
Finish time: We are due to play Lancashire Under 17s at 12:00 on Sunday 6th January, so the pick up time will be about 2:30pm from KE & QM but parents are welcome to watch the match.
