SAMURAI TRIUMPH AT MIDDLESEX SEVENS
Invitation side ULR Samurai International won the Middlesex Charity 7s at Twickenham stadium on Saturday.
In a repeat of last year’s final, Samurai’s all star line up defeated Aviva Premiership side London Irish 15-12.
Both teams could have won the closely-fought final which saw Samurai avenge their 26-21 loss to the Exiles in last year’s competition. London Irish were once again led by England internationals Paul Hodgson, Delon Armitage and Steffon Armitage, but it was Samurai who started the stronger side. Captain Marius Schoeman went over for the first try of the final to put the invitation side in front. London Irish responded with tries from Jonathan Joseph and substitute Marland Yard to take the lead in one of the most hotly contested finals in recent years.
After the break, Kenyan star Humphrey Kayange gathered his own chip and put Paul Delport in for an easy try, which was followed by another from Collins Injera, giving Samurai a lead they would not relinquish. The sin binning of Yarde left the Exiles a man down and despite a sustained period of attack in their opponents half, they could not find any gaps in the Samurai defence.
In the plate competition Newcastle Falcons defeated Wales’ Amser Justin Time 14-10, with scores from Will Welch and Jeremy Manning.
Off the pitch there was something for everyone with entertainment including face painting, cheerleaders, a brass band, karaoke and an inflatable Kids Zone.

It was a fantastic day enjoyed by everyone in my party of 4. My only criticism would be the cost of the food, but this would not stop me going again.

Favourite moment: The Wasps vs London Irish game was excellent, as was the closing passage in the final. @

For a mere £30 I enjoyed a seat 13 rows back from the 22, for a whole day of rugby! Whilst the games varied in quality, the atmosphere grew and grew during the day. Twickenham seemed to become one big pub, with a friendly atmosphere throughout. Many were in fancy dress and this merely added to the atmosphere on the day.
Back to the rugby - where else can one watch over 20 games of such quality in one day, from premiership sides to international teams. Highly recommended!

Had a great day, sham the weather couldn't have been kinder. Enjoyed watching them 'warm up' before their matches and the actual matches were excellent with a thrilling final.
Felt like it was maybe an hour too long and we were all tired but very very happy.
My first time at Twickenham and loved it.
Had a few incidents on way to station and motorists were hassled. Maybe close the roads at kicking out time

24 fast and furious matches with hardly a chance to breathe let alone make the vital trips to the bar. A lot of fun, great crowd (if sparse, but hey, that meant short bar queues). The 'dancing' was just plain odd, stick to the rugby, definitely entertainment enough. Loved that the teams walked round the crowd after going out.

Its a long day but worth it. 22 games of sevens rugby. Ground easy to find, parking (if you pay £30) is excellent. Food expensive but its Twickenham, what do you expect ? Kids loved it.
If there is another offer this year will buy more tickets and take more with us.
