Mini Games report v Preston GH
Under 9's
Littleborough battled hard against a well drilled Grasshoppers side but were well beaten on the day. All the borough players played there best and can hold there heads up high. Man of the match was Thomas Mayo with some excellent tackleing and well won try's.
Under 10's
Preston Grasshoppers arrived at littleborough with a convincing record so far this season but were met strong littleborough side ready to take them on. The first half saw borough take the lead 3 - 1 with trys from Kyle Rothwell(2) and Jordan Clarke(1), only outstanding defensive work from Edward Walton and Jack Wilson kept the visitors to a single try. In the second half Preston came back strong to score 2 trys early with a reply from borough with 2 more trys from Kyle Rothwell, a final score of 5 - 5 did justice to both teams who played some very good rugby.
Man of the match was Kyle Rothwell.
Well, what a day, possibly the best I have known, after a week of difficult weather it was lovely blue skies on Sunday, just what we had prayed for. Early morning, 7.30/8.00 am Darren Ripley and his team of helpers were busy marking out all the Pitches for 10 matches at once, Steve Park was assisting erecting big tents for changing facility use, his wife Beverley Park and Chairman's Wife Jayne Rawlinson were organising the Office getting ready for registration by visiting teams. Robert Chadwick, Mark Murgatroyd and Chief Exec Brian Hurst were preparing Car Parking with Programme sales at the entrance, then arrival of DePhoto, Raging Bull and Fabio Conti (Ice Cream) with their Display Vans and awnings plus Jayne Hurst setting up Boro Tuck Shop table and finally Jeanette and her staff in the Kitchen preparing food and drinks, all looked rather splended thanks to a wonderfull TEAM effort. NOW WE WERE READY.
They arrived by the thousands! filling the road leading up to Rakewood, Police were helping to move them on, they arrived setting up their own gazibo's and settling themselves down for a good days Rugby. Time for Alec Mill Senior Referee on the day to gather all refs put forward what was required of them, then off to their respective pitches to open up the tournament, practically on time.Young childrens voices shouting and sceaming, adult voices giving encouragement could be heard over all the site and gave a brilliant back drop to a worthwhile day of Rugby.
