What is a Training Needs Analysis?
Everyone who joins the Leadership Academy has a different set of skills and experiences. A short, simple, set of questions is used to find out what you already know about leadership then the programme can be tailored to make sure the group get the most out of the Leadership Academy. There are no right/wrong/pass/fail questions.
What does the Leadership Workshops cover?
The one-day, interactive workshop covers leadership topics such as leadership, planning, gaining commitment, etc. The agenda is tailored to the needs of the group.
What are 'Challenge & Support Groups?
Smaller groups of 'leadership candidates' (geographically based) meet and discuss topics of mutual interest. This creates a network of like minded individuals who learn from each other. The group sets its own agenda, decides how often and where they will meet. This creates an environment to share good practice and tackle practical issues such as fundraising.
Is there feedback?
The 'leadership candidates', CBs, Clubs and other stakeholders are asked to tell us what worked well and what can be improved. We explore stakeholders feedback fully at the Celebration & Review events to help us continually improve the programme.
Would existing senior club officials wishing to learn more and hone their skills benefit from the Leadership Academy?
The Leadership Academy programme is specifically designed for volunteers aspiring to become club leaders in the near future or those new to club leadership. The content is not aimed at club leaders who have served for some time. An experienced leader might well find that they would not get the full benefit of the programme and feel it was not a worthwhile investment of their valuable time.
How much does the programme cost?
We ask candidates to make a £100 contribution per candidate towards the cost. Ideally the contribution would be made by the club or other sponsor. The investment in each Leader is approximately £300 per candidate. This reasonable contribution will also enable us to reach more candidates and make the Leadership Academy sustainable. Candidates will have to commit their time to attend the launch, workshop, challenge and support groups, mentor meetings and celebration/review. There is no financial compensation for the time they invest.
