I was first approached by our club secretary just before Christmas 2005, to see if I amongst two others would be interested in going on the course. At first I was sceptical, having been on many such courses in past employments and had no plans in the direction of being on a committee.
Prior to the vote, I spoke to our Leadership Mentor, and explained my plans, and what my concerns and thoughts were about becoming the Chairman. My mentor was extremely supportive and had offered a great deal of advice and an "open ear" to any requirements, which I may need to discuss with him. I am now the Chairman of Stafford Rugby Club.
In terms of what I have got from the Academy, I feel that it has offered several things:-
