The Lancashire 7-16 Committee is delighted to announce that competition, formerly sponsored by Barclays, will remain on the Under 11s & Under 12s calendar on for the coming season.
To accommodate the late entry of Widnes Under 12s, only possible because of shortage of one club in the published Merseyside area competion, the Under 12s Festival days at Warrington (20/11), Sefton 15/01) and Southport (26/02) have been amended. No other club has been inconvenienced by this late entry.
The Barclays Corporate Division, based in Manchester, has been a strong supporter of Lancashire Rugby, and their backing for the development of Mini Rugby has been most welcome. Formerly 'Barclays Commercial', Barclays rebranded during the course of their sponsorship to 'Barclays Corporate'.
If any individual, organisation or company would like to consider the sponsorship of this 2 age group, 4 festival day, 25 club and 184 match competition, please contact the Hon. Treasurer.
The entry date for the 2011/12 Barclays Corporate Mini Triangular Festival Cup, Lancashire's county-wide competition for the Under 11s and Under 12s age squads has passed.
Matches are to be played on or before the fixed dates already published, leading to Lancashire's 'Barclays Corporate' Finals Day on Sunday 15th April 2012. If a mutually accepable date in advance of the 'play by' date is not agreed between fixture secretaries, the game must be played on the specified date. No match results will be valid if played later.
As ever, a suitable venue for the Finals day - a day out for the families of 16 teams - is sought. Liverpool St Helens, Blackburn, Bury, Tarleton and Preston Grasshoppers have hosted the Festival Finals day in previous years, always one of the highlights of the County calendar.
Please note that as from 2011/12, entry to this competition and the County's other mini or youth competitions, will only be accepted from clubs which hold the RFU's Seal of Approval.
The playing regulations for are as outlined in the RFU Continuum, and the rules for the competition are intended to encourage both fun and development of players. In each case, the travelling sides are to play the first match of the day, the host club playing their visitors in matches two and three. At certain venues, four sides will be present but as with all 'triangular' events, players are involved in two competition matches on the day.
In each age group eight teams, two from each ‘conference area’ and the two with the best playing records, will progress to Finals Day.
All Coaches, Managers and other supervising adults involved are expected to have been CRB cleared, and all participating players must be registered on RugbyFirst by the Youth Registrar and cleared to allow photographs to be taken during the competitions, celebrating the performances of the players involved (by signing the necessary clearance).
