Roses romp clinches women’s RU title for Lancashire
Sunday, 18th November at Wigan RUFC
Lancashire 25 - Yorkshire 0

Lancashire Ladies RU team wrapped up their fourth Northern Championship campaign in emphatic style when they scored five tries without reply to claim a 25-0 win against Yorkshire at Wigan RFC.
Despite Lancashire winning the title every year since the competition began, this year's Championship has been a very close affair, with all sides still having a chance of winning the trophy on the final day.
However, the Red Rose team were at full strength side after their recent defeat by the hands of Cheshire and their strength and quality was evident throughout.
Lancashire started well and back-row forward Rachel Brown (Waterloo) put them ahead with the opening try. The home side then maintained their supremacy and pulled further ahead on 17 minutes when centre Shelly Powe (Eccles) ran an exquisite line to glide over the second.
Yorkshire struggled to make away headway against a powerful home back row trio of Emma Gander (Ormskirk), captain Clare White (Waterloo) and Brown (Waterloo) and this advantage up front enabled hooker Mary McLoughlin to score on the stroke of half time.
Though Yorkshire fought hard to rescue the situation, strong defence kept them at bay before fly-half Caroline Royle (Waterloo) broke through for the fourth Lancashire try after 44 minutes.
The match was always keenly competitive to the death, but Lancashire stayed in control to claim a final try through Brown.
