Vale of Lune took Lancashire's 'Sue Garnett' Cup for Women, the final played at Preston Grasshoppers on Bank Holiday Monday (12th April), for which the presentation preceded the mens' Lancashire Cup Final.
A fairly one-sided affair, which came to life in the second half, the Womens Cup final saw Vale overcome the one-time powerhouse of womens' rugby in the North, Waterloo, by a 24 - 5 margin.
The women's Plate Final on the May Day bank holiday (4th May) follows the sucessful formula adopted in recent years, the women contributing to the end-of-season atmosphere which includes the men's Lancashire Trophy and Lancashire Plate finals.
'Floppers', a joint squad of Fleetwood and Preston Grasshoppers, will be playing Manchester (at a venue still to be agreed).
The draw for the 2008/09 Womens Cup was made at the meeting of the Competition Committee on Tuesday, 6th January, and subsquently after each round.
