A Rugby Football Union Disciplinary Panels meeting tonight (Monday, January 28, 2008) at the Leeds Brighouse Holiday Inn ruled on the following cases:
1. James Rothwell, a Doncaster RFC player on loan to Waterloo RFC, was suspended for two years after being found guilty of a breach of IRB Anti-Doping legislation Article 2.3 of Regulation 21 in that he ‘failed or refused, without compelling justification, to submit to sample collection after notification, as authorised in these anti-doping regulations, or otherwise evading Sample collection’ following a game against Manchester RFC on December 22, 2007. He can resume playing on December 26, 2009. He has the right of appeal.
2. An appeal by Chris Ashton of Northampton Saints against the issue of a yellow card for dangerous play during a game against Plymouth Albion on January 19, 2008 was rejected. As a result, having collected three yellow card for foul play this season, he was suspended for one week. He can play again on February 4, 2008.
3. An appeal by Nick King of Fylde RFC against the issue of a yellow card for striking during the game against Caldy RFC on January 19, 2008 was rejected.

4. Philip Boulton (Rotherham RFC), who was sent off for kicking contrary to Law 10 (4) (c) in the game against Exeter on December 29, 2007, was suspended for three weeks. He can play again on February 19, 2008.
5. Jeremy Bostock (Macclesfield RFC), who was sent off for stamping contrary to Law 10(4)(b) in the game against Preston Grasshoppers on January 5, 2008, was suspended for two weeks. He can play again on February 12, 2008.
6. David Whitehead (Blaydon RFC), sent off for stamping contrary to Law 10 (4) (b) in the game at Preston Grasshoppers on January 12, 2008, was suspended for two weeks. Having already served a club suspension he can resume playing immediately.
