Lancashire’s President Mr Don Welsh presided over four successful evenings held around the County during October and November 2010.
The meetings delivered an overview of the three “Golden Roles”, Club Coaching Co-ordinator, Club Referee Co-ordinator and Club Volunteer Co-ordinator as to the value they should provide to a Club.
The presentations were delivered by RFU staff members: Ian Thompson (NW Coaching Development Manager), Paul Renton (NW Referee Development Manager) and Mike Hart (North Volunteer Manager), in addition to Dave Herriman, Chair of the Club & Community Committee and Ken Andrews, the County Secretary.
A very professional filmed presentation organised by Paul Renton was a welcome change to our usual method of delivery and highlighted not only good practice in Lancashire but the two other North West Constituent Bodies.
Missed Opportunities
It was disappointing that only 50% of our clubs took advantage of the presentations and that most of the missing clubs would have benefited from the evenings.
Said Ken Andrews, “I wish to thank the President for his valued contribution to our discussions and to our three hard working RFU Staff who provided much useful information which certainly stimulated debate and action in several clubs from the feedback I have received.”
Thanks once again to our host clubs Liverpool St Helens FC, Preston Grasshoppers RFC, Aldwinians RUFC and Burnley RUFC for hosting the meetings and providing food for all delegates, the Presidents Hotpot award for the pre-meeting meal he decided should go to Burnley as "he loved their Chicken Curry".
