Lakenham Hewett Youth Section....
Welcome to the newest team at Lakenham Hewett!
From an aspiration only 3 months ago, LHRFC now has a growing youth structure. Starting with only two 15 year olds, the club now has 21 registered boys aged between 13 and 15 and it is hoped that with the current rate of growth, we’ll have enough for at least 2 teams before Christmas. More new players are joining every week and are coming from schools such as Costessey High, Long Stratton High, Thorpe St Andrew High, Notre Dame and CNS.
A few of the boys have joined from some of the more established clubs, where competition for places can be fierce. However, many more have started playing rugby seriously for the first time – inspired by the likes of Phil Vickery and Jonny Wilkinson no doubt!
The boys are developing fast, under the coaching of Andy Pullenger, supported by Andy Leach and Ian Patterson. Two training sessions are held on Sunday mornings (10-12) and Tuesday evenings (7-9). The boys who’ve played before have commented on the great atmosphere at the training, where everyone seems determined to listen and learn.
There are already some fixtures lined up:
- Wymondham U16 on October 28th
- Dereham U15 on Nov 25th (home)
- Dereham U15 on Feb 3rd (away)
New shirts are about to be ordered, so the new team will really look the part when they take the field. Many thanks to sponsors CEYMS for their invaluable contribution to enable us to buy the shirts and other equipment.
