Lakenham Hewett WRFC prepare for new season with new sponsors
Lakenham Hewett WRFC have secured a new main sponsor for the 0708 season, PalletFORCE, have not only supplied them with a new playing kit, but also a very generous contribution to their travel costs. Based in Lichfield PalletFORCE is one of the fastest-growing palletised distribution networks in the UK, with a comprehensive and expanding service to mainland Europe. In addition local company AC Leigh will also be sponsoring the team, making another significant contribution to the club.
Lakenham Hewett WRFC started training back in July for the new season in Championship 1 North. Having been runners up behind Blackheath in National Division 1 SE for the second season in a row, Lakenham were promoted to this newly created league, the second tier in women’s rugby. Helping with their tough new challenge are coaches Mark Scott, and new this season, Gideon Roussow. Both North Walsham players bring a wealth of experience and have already been putting the girls through their paces, including a team-bonding day at an activity centre in North Norfolk.
Not only do Lakenham face the challenge of a higher standard of rugby, but also the prospect of long journeys to away games. They will be playing teams from as far a field as Carlisle, Lancaster, Liverpool, Hartlepool and Darlington; sides from Leeds and Birmingham being the nearest they will face!!

Lakenham Hewett WRFC Start Season with winning ways
Lakenham Hewett WRFC have started the new season with a win at the women’s competition at Southwold Beach Tag tournament in July. They beat OA saints in a tight final, and also had close games against Footscray (semis), Eccles (quarters) and Southwold. The winning squad pictured below, was made up of Corinne Brever, Caroline Furniss, Charlotte Sayce, Wendy Masters, Kate Hodgkinson, Trish Opie, Jo Wood and Charlotte Lee-Smith.
