Preston out in front...
Following Preston Grasshoppers' success at both Under 15
and Under 16 level at the 2005 EFE Challenge Cup Finals, the club has now
become the most successful in the 17 year history of the Lancashire Cup.

Whilst West Park
dominated the early years,
winning three age groups out of four in each of the opening two seasons, 1989
and 1990, Preston have now won the various county finals on twelve occasions,
surpassing West Park's eleven. Fylde and Widnes, both with seven cup final
wins, are ranked together in third place.
No squad has
yet achieved a 'clean sweep' of four successive wins from Under 13s to
Under 16s. The current Under 15s are the third Preston
squad to claim three Junior Cup victories.
Hoppers' Under 14s from 1992/93 went on to win in 1994 and 1995,
a squad that included Alex Sanderson and Steve Borthwick.
The Under 13s in 1999, in which current 1st XV members
John Peterson, Andrew Dockray and Douglas Fitzgerald featured, added the
15s and 16s trophies. Not content with the Junior Cups, they went on to
win the Lancashire Colts 17s and 19s (as Under 18s) finals in the following two
years.
Widnes, twice,
Sedgley Park and Fylde have also just failed
to achieve the 'four-in-four'. Fylde's 16s lost to West Park in 2001 and Widnes'
16s fell to Aspull in 2004.
