Quality Entertainment!
We still do great events,
although not perhaps with this pedigree!
In 1962, Preston Grasshoppers
presented one of the great nights in Preston's musical history as The Beatles
made `their first visit to Preston'.
Whilst only third on the bill,
the Liverpool group, described as `Merseyside's Fabulous Combination' made a
lasting impression at the concert staged by the Club in the Public Hall.
Perhaps today this concert, then
involving a little-known band, would
have been held in the Dooley Suite. Well, that's history!
Our Mini, Junior and Youth members will not be
aware of the Public Hall, Preston's principal music venue, replaced as it was in
1973 by the Guild Hall.
The frontage of the building remains, the 'Corn
Exchange' public house, situated at the northern end of Lune Street,
between Fleet Street and Ringway.
