OLD VULGARIANS SPEND WEEK IN WET & WINDY WELLINGTON
In October 2006 Wellington welcomed the Old Vulgarians with the traditional storm so that the Golden Oldies opening ceremony had to be cancelled and the tour moved straight on to the opening party, which suited the OVs just fine.
Based at the Duxton Hotel on the waterfront the Hendon stalwarts were joined by "young" John Casalaspro and players from Australia, New Zealand and Spain.
Three games were "enjoyed", Kiwi Rankin tour organiser laid on a visit to a winery and the Golden Oldies day out was at the racetrack where the children from the local schools performed the haka as a welcome. On the Saturday and before the final thrash a golf match was played but the rigours of the week meant that the scoring was rather poor.
