70 UNANSWERED POINTS IN MIDDLESEX VASE SEMI-FINAL WIN
This was a re-run of last year's final but showed the progress Hendon have made with another victory but this time by no less than 70 points to nil.
Old Isleworthians currently lead the League below Hendon and with both clubs depleted because of the International weekend this was a resounding victory. Coach Nick Lovett said "This just shows the difference in strength between the Leagues, but we now have an experienced and talented squad, which is exactly what we will need for next season after we gain promotion to Herts Middlesex League 1."
There was a change in the half back partnership this week with Lee Linale at scrum half changing positions with Wolfie Wolfgram who took over as fly half. However, the first try went to flanker Jamie Connolly who continued his try scoring run with the first try as he broke from the scrum. Lee Linale followed up with a penalty. But as Hendon's pack took control and were winning all their own ball it was the Hendon backs which took over and created the damage with two converted tries by Michael Blake and Anthony Anyim. Player coach and prop Paul Carroll was next on the score sheet and Hendon ended the first half 29 points to nil in front.
The floodgates opened downhill in the second half with tries coming from both forwards and backs - Dave Connell, Anthony Anyim (his second), Robert Neave, Frankie Light, Scott Handley, and finally Robert Neave again.

OLD GRAMMARIANS PREVENT THE CUP LEAGUE DOUBLE
In a re-run of the League fixture two weeks before, Hendon travelled to Winchmore Hill to face Old Grammarians in the Final of the Middlesex Vase Competition. Despite going down by 21 points to 10 the scoreline does not reflect the play as Hendon were leading for much of this tense final. Once again however the heaver pack of OGs prevailed in the last five minutes of the game as their srcum half picked up from a ruck and dived over from short range to be followed shortly after by the very large OGs prop crashing over from a rolling maul set up by a long downhill kick.
Within four minutes Hendon were leading following concerted attack since kick-off with prop and player coach Paul Carroll going over for a try converted by Ben Linale . For the next quarter only stout OG defence kept Hendon at bay but then it was their turn to dominate particularly when Lee Linale was yellow carded. With only 14 men however Hendon did manage to attack and both Wojtek Walowicz and Tommy Middleton were held up just short of the line. OGs then did manage to breach the Hendon defence with a converted try but Hendon replied with a penalty to take the lead 7 points to 10.
But then came the last five minutes and Hendon's dream of the double was over.
