Clubhouse Improvement
We have done a huge amount of work over the last three years mainly funded from our own cash flow but with the necessary help of donations from members and grants from the RFU and Charitable Trusts. But our resources will not cover everything we need to do to bring the clubhouse facility up to a modern standard.
And so we are looking for more grants and more donations. So the appeal is still open - contact Tom Brownsell or David Connell if you would like to help.
Summer 2009
Further improvements were made to the floodlights and nearly £10,000 was spent on weatherproofing the roof and refurbishing both the Ladies' and Gents' toilets.
Summer 2008
The showers were completely refurbished but the budget was blown by the discovery of asbestos on the 50 year old hot water tank. This had to be removed and replaced. Total cost came in at over £20,000 but with aid of an appeal for funds launched by Dave Connell our Treasurer for contributions from our Vice Presidents and other Club Supporters plus the reserves of cash we had built up over the previous three years and a grant of £3,500 from the RFU we were able to complete the project two weeks after the start of the season.
But more money needed to be spent and to match the commitment of the players eager to train the Committee agreed to an upgrade of the Training Lights at a cost of £3,500. This has also been completed with the help particularly of one donation of 50% of the cost from a player from more than 50 years ago, who simply wanted to help the club prosper.
Summer 2010
The kitchen has been completely refitted, the furniture in the main bar has been replaced, the central heating and hot water boiler has been replaced and the back bar redcorated in addition to the usual necessary regaular maintenance. During the coming months one of the small dressing rooms will be fitted out as a Medical Room.
Once again we have used our own cash resources and cash flow but the RFU have helped again with a grant of £3,335.
