Gainsborough 36 Barton 2nds 0
Gainsborough are a fit side these days and Barton were prevented from hitting back with points because the home side always got back and made the tackles when the had to, good breaks out of defence by Chadwick who ran half the length of the field before being caught and strong tackling by Dan Hickson preceded the second Gainsborough try., Mark Waterland went over when given ball by his colleagues in the backs but he still had work to do after he received the ball and duly did the job beat the opposition and touching down to score the points.. Gainsborough now 10 points to 0 in front and that was the way it would stay until half time.
The second half saw some adjustments, the home side had to reorganise the backs due to injury to Aaron Dawson and full back Kent, this meant Andy Dean had to be pressed into service as an emergency winger. As with the first half the home side took the game to their opposition, Grant Bell was playing superbly up in the Barton faces at every opportunity, his speed off the back of the scrum was a constant thorn in the visitors side as well as the threat to there line out ball at the set piece, it was no surprise therefore that his speed and strength gave the All Blacks the first score after the break, Three more tries were added and despite a strong team performance the scoreing, looked like the Howard Russell and Andy Dean show, the veterans broke through the last line of defence and Andy gifted Howard a try before Howard scored a fine individual effort superbly supported by Dean prior to Dean going over for the final try of the day. Albert Parker converted all three tries and the final score was 36 – 0
Well done the All Blacks who will be tested harder next week when Boston are the visitors.
