Gainsborough All Blacks 0 Skegness 58

Skegness surged to the the next round of the NLD trophy thanks to a performance in which they totally dominated all areas of the game and delighted their travelling supporters.
IT was particularly disappointing for the AllBlacks, they had trained hard for the game and so wanted to get a result as this game was also the Paul Bell Memorial match, following the minutes silence Skegness took the ball from the Gainsborough Kick and attacked from the very first minute, something they continued to do until the 70 th minute of the game when the home side did eventually doninate a part of play camped in the oppositionhalf and attacked their line. When this happened unfortunatly it was all to late and Skegness had amassed 51 points and whilst they did scvore one more coinverted try in the last minute oif the gamde as always these home grown yougsters will learn from theis match and take this knowledge into next weeks game against Rasen 3rds, a game that will also be played at the Castle Hills Ground.
Ga iusborough have not played against Skegness first tweam for a number of years and it was only the cup draw that pitted these two teams against each other on this occaision. It was clearly evident that whilst the All Blacks worked hard and have made great strides forward this year they still have a long way to go if they are to go back into league rugby and be competitive.
The All Blacks lost their experianced centre Matt Hulley after 14 minutes, Hulley is a good influence on the young Gainsborough players and this injury made the task against Skegness all the more difficult.
Posuitives from the game came from the bullocking running of Dan Hickson, the tackling of Elliot Humphrey, improved form of Gareth Wood and a nice cameo appearance from nathan Mitchell for the last ten minutes proving he is now almost back to full fitness following his recent run of games. The biggest factor for the home side was man of the match Mark Ellis jnr who worked solidly and tirelessley all afternoon and well deserved his MOM award for his efforts against Skegness.
Next weeks game is at home to Market Rasen KO 2.15 players are asked to meet at 1.00
