Following our win away at Hampshire (see report below) the season is now over for the Under 17s...3 wins from 3...well done all who have been involved!
Over the next couple of weeks the 4 coaches and myself will be deciding on the squad to go forward to 18s for next season.
We will e mail and post here that squad asap. Some of you will be dissapointed to miss out - I know - but we do not intend to operate as such a large group at 18s... For those that make it well done!
For those that dont but are young enough to be eligible next year, we will be back in touch around November...
For those that dont fall into either of these categories... On behalf of E Counties can I thank you for all you efforts, I'm sorry you didnt get through but I hope you enjoyed your time with us and good luck for the future!

Hampshire 23 E Counties 34.
E Counies Under 17s completed the season unbeaten with a comprehensive win over a large well drilled Hampshire side.
The win would have been much greater but for EC's inability to tune in to referee James Gregory's requirements! For most of the match EC continued to keep Hampshire in the match by being penalised for a series of technical offences.
Counties opened the scoring inside 5 mins, when after a fine break by Charlie Precious had been extended by Henry Dewing.., the quick ball allowed Mo Osman to feed the supporting Oliie Watson a simple stroll in under the posts. Damian Brambley added the 2.
Hampshire quickly got back on terms when they exploited a dog leg in the Maroon threequarters to score out wide. Crossley's re start didnt go 10 metres but from the scrum back, it was Counties who scored! Tom Crozier ensured the Hampshire strike was untidy and as Dewing harried his opposite number at 9, Precious was on hand to scoop up a spilled pass and race 45 metres under the posts! Again Brambley extended lead.
Hampshire did close the gap when EC were adjudged to have handled in the ruck with fly half Joel Knight landing the penalty. Back came EC and Crossley begining to grow with confidence made a lovely break from 10. Jones and then Osman took the ball on before Alex Day had the simple task of running the ball in from 15 metres. Hampshire did reduce the margin to 13 - 19 at the break when they scored again in the right hand corner after a series of penalties and some slightly sloppy defending allowed the speedy right wing over!
The second half continued to see EC give away a series of penalties to an over zealous referee but this time stubborn defence prevented Hampshire scoring. Day and Brambley started to cause real problems in the home defence as they attacked from deep. Brambley deservedly scored when he outstripped 3 defenders for a score he then superbly converted from the touchline to make it 13 - 26. Another attack by the same two plaers made good ground but when the move petered out due to lack of support, the lively Hampshire scrum half Jake Reynolds escaped the clutches in midfield to draw the last two defenders beofre sending Morgan in for another score in the left corner.
Counties were not to be denied and the forwards in particular began to turn the screw. Ben Cooper made a fine break, Crozier and Dan Francis were effective at tidying up some of the scrappy ball whilst Precious and Watson were tireless around the park. A cynical foul on Watson earned the Hampshire tight head prop 10 minutes in the sin bin and Brambley an easy kick at goal to make it 29 - 18 to Counties.
Brambley was having a field day on the left wing and his excellant break pushed Hampshire right back to 12 metres from their own line. Ryan Oakes stole the lineout ball and Andy Jones crashed the ball to within 5 metres of the line. When the ball came back, the threequarters were queueing up to score and Alex Day was the lucky recipient.
In the dying seconds of the match and with the game well and truly won, Counties swithced off and Hampshire did reduce the arrears with another try for left wing Morgan
The whole 21 players who took part can be pleased with their performance and whilst it is unfair to mention individuals...special praise should go to the 2 young halfbacks Dewing and Crossley who put in fine performances.
