DISCIPLINARY
GUIDANCE ON CLUB PROCEDURES FOLLOWING THE SENDING-OFF OF A PLAYER
The attention of Club Secretaries is drawn to Paragraph 4.4 in Section 8 of the RFU Handbook, which relates to the procedures and Conduct of Disciplinary Committees.
This requires that the Constituent Body ie its Disciplinary /Secretary, notified of the name and address of any player ordered from the playing enclosure within 48 hours of the end of the match. This includes player under the age of 17. There are no exceptions to this and it applies equally to Society, non-society referees and to those who 'just take up the whistle'.
Club secretaries should note also the actions to be taken when dealing with those who are Under 17 at the time of their dismissal. These are to be found in paragraph 13 of Section 8 in the RFU Handbook.
Reminder. Every clubs is required to have a properly constituted Disciplinary Committee, which is charged with maintaining the standards of discipline within the club. It is strongly recommended that this committee be pro-active rather than re-active especially when action may be required in enforcing Rule 5.12 of the Rules of the RFU.
