East Region Trials 2005/6
It was glorious day being bright and sunny but very cold. There were plenty of spectators looking forward to seeing the girls trial. The OAKs Duke of Edinburgh Gold participants provided refreshments at a small fee and shared the profits they made with the East Region.
The Regional Staff were very grateful for all the expert help from coaches and parents to help the day run smoothly. It was great to see some old faces and some new ones. The East Region Staff hope all trialists enjoyed the day and would like to thank everyone involved, parents, grandparents, trialists and volunteers etc.
There were 65 Under 17s trialists and 27 Under 14s
The number of clubs that were represented was very refreshing and the spread shows that the game is growing. The following clubs were represented at trials

Without these extra volunteers the day would have been much harder to have managed and the Regional Staff would like to thank them all for their help, it was invaluable. I apologise unreservedly if I have forgotten anyone. Everyone who helped did so with energy enthusiasm and good grace.
A special vote of thanks goes to our Physios, Ian White, Charlie from Ipswich and Herman Fenton. We kept them busy but not too busy.
The standard was extremely high. The forwards were very well represented and were of outstanding quality which made selection very difficult. A number of forwards who narrowly escaped selection would have been selected in previous years. It was great to see some new talent and also see some familiar faces. It was also a pleasure to be able to select some of last years Under 14s into the Under 17s squad. It was clear the standard of skill and ability of the players had improved, a testimony to the skills of the club coaches in our Region, thanks to them all for making our life that little bit more difficult.
