Essex Girls Welsh Tour
The Under 17's and 14's girls travelled across the border toWales on the 11th of February for their first ever tour. The under 14's played two excellent games against teams from Garndiffaith and Newport beating them 55 - 0 and 45 - 5 respectively. Try's came from Sam Smith, Rhea Mills, Hannah McCready, Ellie Martin, Emily Clark, India Harvey, Charlotte McCready, Emily Scott and Siobhan Allison.
The Under 17's opposition were the Welsh Regional Team - RBT. After conceding a try and conversion from RBT, the girls fought back to an extremely convincing win with try's from Veronica Ely, Francesca Tomassi, Kat Emerson (twice), Natalie McClaranon with 4 of the 6 try's being converted by Libby Peak and Cherelle Alphonse the final score line 38 to 7 for the Essex Girls. All three games were very physical games but the Essex Girls relied on skills to out try their opponents.
It was then back to our hosts Garndiffaith for tea and the presentation of trophies before heading to the Youth Hostel our base in the Brecon beacons.
Sunday dawned bright and damp, but spirits were high as all the girls attempted to climb the walls of the Welsh International Climbing Centre, with much laughter and team spirit, every girl and adult managed to climb at least one wall.
It was then onto Cardiff for an afternoon of shopping whilst Wales were playing Scotland at the Millennium Stadium. Tired and happy everyone returned to the hostel for dinner and an evening of laughter and fun.
Monday saw us leave the Hostel with good memories with a stop in Bath for lunch, 21 Essex Girls arrived home tired but triumphant.
