South West Trials - BGS 15th November
Firstly a heartfelt thanks from the U18 coaching team for the commitment and passion that you have all shown in this years U18 campaign. The results speak for themselves...2 wins (Vs Somerset and Oxfordshire) and one loss (Vs Gloucestershire...and that we could easily have won!). All of you, without exception, should be justifiably proud of your D&W involvement. You are a credit to the Twin Counties. As you will by now know, the SW Selectors have made decisions, and congratulations to the following players for being invited to the SW trials:

For those not selected, the coaching team strongly recommend maintaining your fitness, and keeping the lanes of communication. Injuries happen so the situation can, and often does, change. The SW selectors will be returning the individual score sheets soon. I will let you know when they arrive as this will give an opportunity for feedback.
The SW trials are being held at the BGS grounds (Directions), registration starting at 0930. Be there for 0900. Take normal kit, foul weather kit, and a packed lunch. The selectors also require a pass[port photo, and a photocopy of the same. I am sure I speak for the entire squad in wishing the selected players the best of luck....I will keep this page updated with progress!

Players should arrive by 1230, to start warm up by 1300. When you arrive check-in with the team manager. Wear D&W tracksuits (for those that have them, for those that have yet to pay....this time please) pre-match, smart (shirt and tie) post match. NB: As before you MUST wear the match number next to your name, this so the SW selectors correctly assess you. The college have advised that trainers will be required to walk to the pitch. D&W will be using the Munro changing rooms which cannot be locked, so a valuables bag will be used. The allocated warm up area is Farm Field, which is also the game pitch. Food has been arranged for 1630 in the main dining hall, supporters will be able to purchase refreshments in the Sports Center cafeteria.
As always keep up the communication...let me know yes/no for availability by email. Within 48 hours of the match, if you are unable to attend let the team manager know by phone (leave a message if required, phone may be turned off as are the rules over the Atlantic) AND Txt.

Wear D&W tracksuits (for those that have them) pre-match, smart (shirt and tie) post match. NB: As before you MUST wear the match number next to your name, this so the SW selectors know who is where! Note that the clocks change 25th Oct!! So far this season, communication has been excellent.....keep this up and let the team manager know that you are able/unable to play. It is vital that the team manager is told of late injury/illness as soon as possible (ideally 24 hours notice) so that other players can be contacted.
Well done for all those players involved in the comprehensive 22-0 victory over Somerset. The squad demonstrated prowess in all aspects of the game, Somerset acknowledging that they were out-paced in the backs and were undone by the power of the forwards. Individual skills and gameplay structure gave rise to some brilliant rugby , which paved the way to a fine team performance that has set the benchmark for the next 2 matches!
Next Training is at SRFC on 21st October, for the complete squad (not just those who played at Marlborough). 1800 for an 1830 start. As always, pro-active involvement in letting me know if you are unable to attend. Please note the change in the diary for the venue of the final match.

Selection Match Result
A big thank-you for the turn out at Supermarine RFC yesterday, Newport were suitably impressed at the standard of play, particularly in light of the fact that was after one training session (there is obviously work to be done!). Also a thank-you for the support of parents/schools, without that support events like these would not be possible. The coaching team have selected the players listed below who should all attend training at Salisbury RFC 7th Oct. Timings: 1800 for a 1830 start, finished by 2030. No food will be provided. After the training session, the 22 players to attend the first county match on 11th Oct will be announced....therefore check your availability for that date and tell topper/Si/Paul/Myself if there is a problem. The remaining SW forms must either be sent (immediately) to myself, or bring them to training. If we do not have those completed forms (WITH PHOTO), you will not play. D&W track-suits will be available on wednesday: The cost is 15 pounds....ideally in the form of a cheque payable to "Dorset "& Wilts RFU". Guys, if you want a suit bring the money....they will not be released if not paid for.

Changing rooms will be open at 17:45, please arrive by 18:00 for a 19:15 kick-off. Although this will be a late night for some, post match food has been provided (and paid for!). Clayesmore Trial Day Results and Invite to Squad Training - Devizes RFC
Thank you to all of the players and parents who supported the trials at Clayesmore. Below are the names of those that were successful and have been invited to the squad training at Devizes RFC (directions) this wednesday, 23rd Sept. Changing rooms open at 1800, and players need to be ready to start at 1830. Any player who is unable to attend MUST let the Team Manager know. For those players who were injured for the first trial, please let the Team Manger know when you become fit, and the coaching team will then consider how to progress.

Registration Process
On entering the school theatre, you will see signs corresponding to positions. Under those signs will be bibs, which are specific to your chosen position (ie nominated position as in the table of invited players). Pick up one bib from your position pile, and go to the registration table (it will have a computer on it). Give the person at the registration your name, confirm your nominated position and give bib number/colour. After you have registered, please leave the theatre so that others can register (the changing rooms will be open). Be back outside the theatre, ready to play, by 10:20 so that briefing can start.
Players need to arrive BY 10:00 so that registration can start at 10:00 sharp. Neutral playing kit only, no club/school colours (including socks). It is strongly advised to also bring suitable wet weather training kit. Gum Shields are a requirement as full contact matches are scheduled for the afternoon session. Food will not be provided, please ensure the players are supplied with an appropriate lunch for what will be a long demanding day.
Only nominated players (as named on this web page) are eligable for the trials. If a player feels he has been overlooked, contact the team manager for further consideration. Non-nominated players should not turn up to the trial, this will prevent the embarressment of being turned away.
If a player is unfit for the trial through injury, the team manager should be contacted before the trial. It is strongly advised that the injured player should turn up at the venue.
Squad Training - Devizes RFC
23rd September
Changing rooms will be open at 18:00. Players need to be ready to start at 18:30.

7th, 21st October.

Selected players to arrive by 1745 so that the selection match can start at 1915 sharp. A meal will be provided by Supermarines at 2100, so expect to leave Swindon at about 2130 (a late night for many of us!).
