FOR ONE MONTH ONLY
Applications being accepted for the RFU Lead up and Legacy Small grants programme
Applications open today and close on 31st March.
Simple one page application forms are downloadable from www.rfu.com/betterfacilities or by contacting your local RFU Area Facility Manager (see below).
There will be £600,000 available as part of the Small Grants Programme which will be used for three specific funding programmes – RFU Goalpost Safety, Pitch Maintenance and Social Spaces.
- The RFU Goalpost Safety programme will offer 50 sets of goalposts and protectors.
- The Pitch Maintenance programme will offer grants of up to £10,000 for pitch maintenance equipment.
- The Social Spaces programme will offer grants of up to £7,500 for projects that transform club social spaces with the aim of restoring rugby clubs to the heart of their local communities. This is the first time that the RFU has offered grants for social facilities.
England 2015 provides rugby union with a once in a generation opportunity to deliver the greatest participation legacy for the game in this country. RFU facility investment will help build capacity and;
- Improve the quality of the experience for club players, members, supporters and communities
- Improve the financial sustainability of clubs
- Improve the retention and growth of players in the 14-24 age bracket
- Help clubs develop a wider range of business and social users outside of rugby
In addition to the small grants programme £1.6m will be invested this season in developing a network of RFU Lead Up and Legacy Centres through improved clubhouses, pitches and floodlights in Round 1 of the RFU Lead Up and Legacy Programme. Further rounds will be launched annually with key investment themes.

Facilities Development Plan

Dorset&Wilts. RFU Ltd
To D & W Club Secretaries
Mailed 8th May 2009
Please click here for a copy of the Dorset & Wilts RFU Facilities Plan for clubs in membership of the Rugby Football Union
across Dorset & Wilts. This Plan provides the framework for the sustainable development of club facilities in both
Dorset and Wiltshire.
It firstly sets the scene and then outlines the key strategic objectives for D & W RFU Ltd.
These are based on many of those contained in the Third RFU Strategic Plan 2008/09-2015/16.
An up to date summary of D & W Club projects is based on club response to the recent facilities questionnaire.
The Activity v Facility Continuum which is based on Model Clubs is explained together with its proposed use as a tool
to identify local need. Dorset and Wiltshire RFU clubs are shown on the Continuum.
Each club's position is based on information/data supplied by the club and/or listed on its RugbyFirst web pages.
The Continuum is the first stage of prioritisation of the investment process. The next stage is based on Critical Success Factors
and Readiness Factors and these are listed in the Plan.
Club projects for Match and Training Floodlights, Pitch Construction, Artificial Grass Pitches, Changing Rooms
and other projects are listed in order of priority with estimated timescales.
This list will be updated and reviewed annually by D & W RFU Club Development Committee
and the Rugby Development Officers (RDOs).
The delivery of the D & W RFU Facilities Plan is dependent on funding, expertise and skills of a range of people
particularly D & W RFU officials, RDOs, and the RFU SW Funding & Facility Manager who all work together in partnership.
The principles of developing and funding a project are clearly listed as do's and don'ts.
Please study the plan. If you wish to correct or update your club's data, or provide any missing information on a facility project,
