Congratulations were heaped up all around as the Dorset & Wiltshire U15's 10s squad became South-West Regional Champions in the most emphatic manner. Strength in the loose, unshakeable defence and unmatched pace in the backs together with skillful ball handling saw them despatch Gloucestershire and Berkshire to nil points, and Devon to only 5 points in the pool matches. The semi-final against a strong Surrey side (we met them in the final last year) was dealt with equally efficiently and this led to the defeat of Hampshire in the final.
Coaches from other squads were quick to heap praise on the Dorset & Wiltshire athletes. "I have never seen such high quality rugby before from lads in this age group" was the generous comment of the Hampshire coach as his team went down 24 - 5
(I think - if the scores are not correct it's because it was an emotional time. I will happily stand corrected!). There is little else to say. This squad gave an outstanding performance as a team and as individuals. It was a privilege to watch and be associated with. For that and a great day out, "Thanks to all of you".
