Egremont took a rest as Hornets and Keswick were up next. Jake Winter scored for the visitors from the kick off showing great speed to round Hornet’s defence. Harry Tyrell was focused and again tackled well but a Keswick scrum let them create their second try. Jake Winter used his pace to score again in the second half but it was Harry Valliant who scored the try of the match as he ran through the Hornets and half the pitch to touch down in the corner.
When the Cockermouth teams met it would have needed a winning margin of 7 tries for the final outcome to be changed. The level score of 2-2 at halftime left too much for Wasps to achieve and in spite of more tries from Jordan Friel and Colm Dubieniec the 5-2 result left the next game as the effective final.
The first half of the final saw Egremont run in 5 tries, followed by 4 tries in the second, without reply. From the start of this game, as throughout the day, Egremont were keen to go forward as a team and showed excellent organisation as well as individual flare. Robbie Johnstone drove hard at the opposition and Josh Brennan powered straight at the Keswick defence. Richard Marr jinked and dodged up the centre in the shortest route to the try line and towards the end Jake Parker used his pace to beat a tiring defence.
Spectators and players alike enjoyed a good days rugby and worthy winners Egremont were presented with a trophy and winners medals by the tournament sponsor Mr Paul Ling of The Diamond Chinese Takeaway, Lorton Street. Runners up medals were awarded to Keswick.
