Second Match

Cockermouth made a good start with Luke Bell getting the ball and powering towards the Wigton try line only to be tagged at the last minute. However the Wasp’s first try came shortly after when Megan Ford drove through the Wigton defence to touch down. Wigton hit back strongly with a sustained period of pressure and only some last ditch defensive work from Declan Thompson, Bradley Smith and Grant Seward taking tags on their try line kept the home side out. Eventually the pressure told and Wigton scored their first of the game. Declan Thompson put Cockermouth back in the lead following good movement of the ball throughout the Cockermouth team but Wigton kept in touch with their second try before the half time whistle.
