Chorley - 14
Manchester - 24
The first game of the season for Chorley saw North Manchester visit on a hot saturday afternoon
With new players looking forward to wearing the chorley colours we looked to getting back to the winning ways that saw them finish 3rd last season
Unfortunatly chorley found themselves 15-0 at half time as the Manchester rucking technique the referee deemed legal did chorley no favours.
The second has however completly different with new half back paring Stuart Harris and Tony Crosby starting to pull the strings and with manchester who had stopped feeding the scrums Hooker Nick Sergeant was able to steel the ball against the head to allow Chorley to pressure the manchester back line. With constant pressure now on the manchester defence and the chorley pack making good strong runs into the manchester pack, centres Mick Richardson and Stev Pearson started to creat real havock.
With a penatly 5 yards from the manchester line captain micheal jessiman crashed over to put chorley back into contention and minutes later Harris dashed through a huge gap created by the manchester number 8 and he ran through to score under the posts and Tony Crosby converting both.
Unfortunatly a lucky intercept found manchester go in the corner.
After the final whistle Chorley Captain Jessiman said "the first game of the season is always tough and the manchester lads are a really powerfull team. It is good we started against this team as it makes you hit the ground running, and last year we lost to manchester and we finished 3rd so positives are taken and we need to kick on as i know we will"
