~ Citheroe ~
Chorley 2nds 21
clitheroe 2nds 7
A sun filled day saw Phil Callander’s men take on a very strong Clitheroe side, after a loss last week to Lostock Chorley needed a win to get back up the table.
Straight from the off the Chorley pack took control with excellent scrummaging, with Chris Turner in good form, then mid way through the first half second row Marc Brook barged through some slack defence side stepped two players and dived over the line to score and converted by Dave Dawson,
Chorley took control then after and after run after run eventually centre Steve Bryan broke through to score after good hands by Andrew Johns and Chris turner converted by Dave Dawson.
At half time Clitheroe brought on some strong players, with there new centre started calling Chorley problems with strong running, and he just got stopped on the line on a few occasions, then after some good running by the Chorley pack, Tom Welch sprinted in from deep and skipped past a couple of players.
As Chorley started to tire and Chorley lost captain Phil callander and vice captain Dave Dawson to injury
Clitheroe scored and were starting to get back into it, but Chorley held out.
After the game Phil callander said, this was a good hard fought game played in a good spirit on a hot day, well done Chorley this was a good win, and thanks to clitheroe, good bunch of lads. on Monday Chorley play there eagerly waited rematch game against Thornton Cleveleys 3 clock kickoff.
