Chorley made the journey north to face a carnforth side who had recorded an impressive cup result two weeks previous comfortably beating newton le willows. Carnforth raced out of the blocks and some direct running by the Carnforth forwards led to Chorley conceeding a penalty which led to the first three points of the day to Carnforth. The penalty seemed to shake Chorley up who responded well and after good forward pressure the in form scrum half Chris Highton powered his way over the line for the first try of the game, Steve pearson made the conversion which put the visitirs 7-3 up. Chorley continued to dominate with the wind at their backs and it wasnt long before Marc Brook went over after neat play down the blind side. The conversion hit the post and that left Chorley 12-3 up at half time. At the start of the second half the impressive carnforth side came out all guns blazing and went in for two converted tries to put them 17-12 up. When Carnforth went in for a third try of the half their supporters and players surely thought this was to be their day at 24-12 but winger Andrew Johns had other plans as he intercepted a wayward pass and sprinted half the length of the field to put Chorley back in the game. A Pearson penalty put Chorley within one score and with two minutes to play after quick hands player coach Andy Kavanagh scored the try that tipified Chorleys never say die attitude and will to win to leave the final score 27-24 to chorley.
