St. Ives u 12’s ‘v’ Camborne u 12’s 13.04.08
23 point haul for Matavesi
On a Sunny Sunday morning and a 10.30 k/o time St. Ives entertained Camborne u 12’s.
Camborne were always on top of this game and played some running rugby down at Hakey Bay and didn’t look like losing, but credit to St.Ives they played some excellent rugby and tried to run the ball at every opportunity. Joel Matavesi opened Camborne’s point’s tally with a try and conversion to make it 7 points to nil. With some handling era’s and with to many penalties against them, St Ives decided to run the ball with a tap at every chance they had but not really gaining much territorial advantage. Camborne then gaining another try though Jordan Thatcher picking up from the base of a ruck and running nearly unopposed to bring Camborne’s second try and Joel Matavesi putting on the extras making it 0 – 14. With the scrums steady by both sides Callum Moyle managed to get the ball away from the base for Matavesi to clear his lines on more than one occasion to give Camborne territory gain. Running the ball was Camborne’s main aim and it paid off with another try by the ever green Matavesi also converting that try to bring his tally to 16 points, the score line being 0 - 21. St Ives didn’t give and took the game to Camborne but unfortunately couldn’t cross the line. The last try of the game was also scored by Matavesi and with him kicking another conversion brought the final score line to 0 – 28 this giving Joel Matavesi a total of 23 points.
TRIES- J Matavesi x 3, J Thatcher x 1

CAMBORNE U12’S ‘V’ TAUNTON - 06.04.08
On a very much mixed seasonal Sunday morning with Sun, sleet and the occasional Snow shower, Camborne u 12’s played a very entertaining game of rugby against Taunton who were down on tour for the weekend.
The game was played in Great Spirit by both sides and flowed from end to end with Taunton getting on the score board first. Camborne then came back and levelled the score line with a try by Jordan Thatcher currently the leading try scorer for the season and converted by Joel Matavesi.
With some great ball handling by both sides, Taunton managed another score brining the score line to 14 points to 7. In the second half the game play was of much the same as the first but lacking first stop tackles by Camborne they manage another score by Joel Matavesi also converting his own try. That brought the score line to 14 points a piece and all to play for. Taunton playing well and Camborne not tackling to their potential let in one more try from a passage of play starting in Taunton’s own half and finally getting one more try making the final score 14 points to 21. After a 15 minute interval and some more of hail shower’s Camborne and Taunton played a fun game of 10 minutes of Uncontested rugby where outside players played at prop and forward players played in the three quarter line, Camborne winning this game by 7 points to nil with a try by Danin M and converte by Joel M. Great fun was had by all even the Taunton supporters enjoy the good spirit conducted by both sets of players. The Camborne coaches would like to take this opportunity to thank the Taunton coaching staff and players plus supporters for the friendly conduct while visiting Camborne and would hope that this could be a regular fixture.

Camborne 25 Redruth 0
The game that every Camborne and Redruth coach waits for, even more so when you have a previous game cancelled. As a coach entering a game with only eight games so far this season, you can imagine i was a little apprehensive. Sorry i douted you boys.
We had the advantage of winning most of the ball, only losing possession in the rucks and mauls. Something to work on kids!! The first game this year when every thing came together. Everyone tackling like demons and the passing game was great. During the game we had five tries disallowed, to many kids watching the pro's. How easy is it to place the ball down with two hands. Great game to watch, that made myself and all the parents proud. In a second short game where i fielded the kids that didn't play including four new comers, they put in a huge effort. Holding the Reds to a 20-5 defeat with Sam J, Matilda and Craig giving it their all.

Camborne 30 Saltash 5
The first of two games at Launceston, Camborne fielded a week'nd side with several players missing and their coach. The team were coached by two cricket coaches, who done a great job!! The game was a very hard game, but Camborne were strong in their back line. With a great effort from Bradley Bawden scoring five tries and dominating the game at scrum half. A great effort from all the boys that attended, including two newcomers Craig and Matilda. Their first full game and they both showed a lot of promise for the future games. Thanks to all Barrie.
Camborne 5 Launceston 5
The second of our games at launceston resulted in the first game that we haven't won this season, ending in a draw. Cambornes backs were against the wall with little going in their favour. The allblacks scored a very controversial try. Then were shocked when Sammy Gibson ran a try in from the pass off, the element of surprise. A very gritty performance, great to watch thanks guys.
