Camborne u11’s 14 Truro 7 Sunday 25th Jan 09
After we cancelled are game against visiting team Launceston due to lack of a pitch to play on, and the fact that the pirates were at home, Truro asked us to play them at short notice!!
Truro the county champs are always our strongest opposition, with the games against them being the type of game that you wish to see each and every week. Both Truro and Camborne children lift their game, giving a truly inspiring performance for the spectators and coaches.
This game proved to be a great battle with both teams playing the game in the manor that it should be played.
The game was played on a full sized pitch as apposed to be normal half size, after a mutual agreement that it would be a good experience. This proved to work in Truro’s favour when they ran in the first try, an outstanding try scored by a very fast winger from his own half. This struck fear in the hearts of our sp ectators; however the game is not over until man with the moustache blows that whistle. Camborne decided to wake up after this and started to play the rugby that we know they can.
The pack played very well in both the lineouts and the scrumages, securing their own ball and competed well for the opposition's. Giving the backs great ball to work with, however they could have moved wider to make use of the bigger pitch.
The team worked hard to turn over opposition ball and to keep our own ball alive, which resulted in us scoring two tries. The first try came from Kieran Southworth providing great support play, then finishing it by diving over for a great try. The second try was a great team effort to get near the opposition's try line, and an even greater effort from our two props. Thomas Tullet and Matilda took the game to Truro supporting each other with a volley of four passes between each other, resulting in Thomas scoring a well deserved try. With Reece kicking both conversions this proved to be the last score of the game.
Truro pressed to equalise however we defended well to hold them off, unfortunately Liam Jolly was caught with a high tackle in their drive for a try.
A great team effort resulting another victory against the Cornish champs.
Thanks kids for a great game, "AN GWARY HA TRANAHEN!!!!

Triangular against Truro and Banbury under 11s on the recreation ground, a big thanks to our senior commitee for allowing these games to happen prior to the first team game against wadebridge. This was a great afternoon where all teams involved enjoyed themselves; Banbury from Oxfordshire thanked us for a very warm welcome to Cornwall. All three games were of a high standard, Truro the Cornish county champions, us runners up and the Oxfordshire champs Banbury. Being a combination that left us with an injured player who dislocated his shoulder in a thunderous tackle. We had great results beating Truro and scoring against Banbury who never conceded a try last season. These games proved a seasons high for us as coaches, thanks children from Barrie, Adam and Dave. The greatest victory of the day was the awesome buffet put on by the parents, coaches, USA CHICKEN and a donation from the minis committee. Thanks to everyone involved and we hope to see Banbury again.

Falmouth 0 – Camborne u13’s 63
Away to Falmouth, Camborne travelling with a bare 15 met Falmouth who them selves were struggling with only 13 players Camborne match their numbers and played 13 aside. In a game which Camborne had the run of the green soon opened the scoring with a try by Jordan Thatcher, Matavesi converting. Thatcher then went on to score a further 3 tries before half time and then being replace before he could score any more. Falmouth did not give up one minute in this game and credit must be given to them for not dropping their heads when the score was going against them. Further tries were scored by Aton peters his first for the club, Kieran Richards grabbing a brace, Liam Lyth, scrum half Callum Moyle Adam Smith popping up on the wing with a storming run crashing over for 1 and Joel Matavesi now playing at No: 8 scoring one try also converting 4. Camborne played with more urgency this weekend with better rucking and mauling and deserved this good win.
Tries – Thatcher x4 Richards x2 Moyle x1 Smith x 1
Peters x1 Lyth x1 Matavesi x1 + Conversions x4

Under 13’s Camborne 30 - 5 Helston
On a wet Sunday morning Camborne u13’s entertained Helston for Camborne’s first game of the season. With the new ELV’s and full pitch to contend with both sides played extremely good rugby. Camborne were first to get on the score sheet with a penalty just left of the uprights from Joel Matavesi. In wet and greasy conditions the game seem to flow quite well with Camborne getting the better ball and tries came from some good handling along the three quarters. Joel Myers picking up his first of two tries, one being converted by Matavesi. Two more unconverted tries came from Winger Kieran Richards and to make amends for his dropped ball over the goal line Jordan Thatcher raced 25metres to touch down near the post Matavesi could not add the extras. Helston with a couple of injuries and uncontested scrums finally had the last say on the full time whistle with a well moved try sadly unconverted to bring them 5 points.
Tries: J Myers x2 K Richards x 2 J Thatcher x1
Pen: J Matavesi Con: J Matavesi

Camborne U14's
Camborne U14s played Helston in Friendly match at the Recreation ground on Sunday 5th October. Both teams had plenty of players and Camborne played all 28 of their players with the agreement of the visiting coach during the game.
Camborne started well and with some great early pressure Ryan Dowing scored a try which he duely converted. Following a spell of great pressure and numerous incisive runs by the backs Aidan Williams crossed over for a try in the score board corner. The game was exciting end to end running rugby and Helston deservedly came back with a late try in the frst half. Both teams rucked and got the ball out well to the backs.
In the second half Camborne swapped all but 2 players, and the visiting backs proved too powerful and after some great decisive runs crossed over 4 times before Camborne could make a reply with a late consolation try by Aidan Williams who had only just came back on. An encouraging start to the season with great promise.

Under 11’s v Helston
Some times you get up on a Sunday morning, and ten minutes into your day wish that you were back in bed. However this was not one of those Sundays. As an age group these boys and girls have worked really hard in training. This Sunday "that paid off", as they really worked very hard together as a team.
Helston were out matched in the pack, with Camborne winning our own scrumages and most of theirs as well. Rucking and mauling was exceptional. With our man of the match Thomas"TANK"White, making some very direct and powerful breaks.
The backs were passing the ball about lovely, and managing to complete several set plays. Four of our try's coming from Adam Lampshire and nine of the conversions from Reece Giblet. Thomas Tullet also had a hat trick, formerly a centre he has been moved into prop and is proving to be one of the best I've seen at this age.
As a rule a great team effort from one and all. As coaches and parents we would like to thank you, For a great game. Looking forward to Falmouth kids.
Thanks kids Barrie
