When the RFU Courage National Leagues were formed in 1987, Camborne were placed in what was then called the Courage National Division 4 South, which is equivalent to National Division 3 South today, and were the highest placed Cornish team at the time. There were 11 teams in this league and they remained at this level until 1995-96 when they dropped to South West 1.
