Buckinghamshire RFU has recently launched its’ School of Rugby.
The SoR replaces the Elite Player Development Centre and is run in partnership between the Counties and Academies, following a core curriculum set out by the RFU National Coaching Development staff.
The SOR follows a similar structure to the current EPDC structure, comprising 9 sessions throughout the year in line with the RFU Youth Structured Season. Delivery of the core curriculum is directed by Level 3 RFU qualified coaches and above.
There are 4 age bandings for the SOR groups U13, U14, U15 and U16 (season 2007/08). These 9 sessions are focused on individual player development, adopting a PLAYER CENTRED – DEVELOPMENT DRIVEN – COMPETITION SUPPORTED philosophy.
Players are identified at County Trials and then given the RFU FAST tests to qualify their fitness for the programme.
At any time, club and school coaches can nominate new athletes for the programme
The county will assemble squads for the regular fixture list and draft in further players outside of the SOR to fulfil this objective.
This change of structure creates a clearer development pathway for talented aspiring young players with an integrated performance related progression -

A list of player names for each age group that have been selected are on the pages linked.
